Ocho Awesome!

The Big Ticket just got it wrong.  I mean really wrong.  We usually agree on the issues of sports but I couldn’t disagree more.  What Chad Ocho Cinco did was great for the NFL.  Raise your hands if you don’t like celebrations in sports?  Of those raising your hands, how many of you even love life?  That’s what I thought.  Anyone who enjoys fun and frivolity has to love what our boy Ocho Cinco did.  He is an entertainer in a venue that employs way too many stiffs and nay-sayers.  When did it become bad to have fun?  Chad Ocho Cinco has always made it clear that he is an entertainer and that he tries to make the fans laugh.  Well, mission accomplished once again.  Just when I thought his antics couldn’t get any more ridiculous, he went and changed his legal name to Chad Ocho Cinco.

The people who get upset about this stuff are the same people who criticize Jose Reyes for first pumping his home runs as he jogs around the bases.  They are the same people who say that TO replicating Ray Lewis’ dance is classless (but forget that Ray Lewis dances when he does something good, so why can’t someone mock it?).  They are the same people who criticize Joba Chamberlain for getting excited after a big strikeout.  When did sports become so serious?  Isn’t it supposed to be fun?  Isn’t that what we all love about sports?  Don’t we love the freedom it brings to us and as a result, have a great time doing it?  Didn’t I just ask a lot of questions consecutively?

Well crap, why can’t professional athletes have fun?  I mean, let’s be real here.  Did Chad Ocho Cinco deal drugs, or resist arrest, or physically hurt anyone with his actions?  No.  So lay off the guy.  The people who take the time to whine and complain about Ocho Cinco constantly are the same ones who tell kids to turn the music down on a Friday night during the summer.  What Chad Ocho Cinco does with his name is entirely up to him and the fact that he made it so funny is just a testament to the fact that he enjoys having a good time.  When did that become a crime?

So all you haters can stay on your morally charged high horses because personally, I don’t think it’s that much fun up there.  I’m going to hang out down here with all the “distractions” and the “classless individuals” who know how to have a good time.  After all, that is what Chad Ocho Cinco would want.

  1. Big Ticket Says:

I don’t have an issue with any of those things mentioned in the 2nd paragraph… although I put some of TO’s crap into the same category as Johnson’s – that is, when it starts to become a distraction and hurt the team, it’s time to stop. TO got himself sent out of town twice largely for these reasons. The Vikings believed the media hype about Randy Moss’ ‘bad behavior’ enough to trade the best player they’d ever had. Both teams recognized when it was time to move on because the player became more of a focus than the team (Screw you Joe Buck for calling Moss ‘disgusting’ for FAKE mooning Green Bay, the seemingly last straw that caused him to be traded). Chad Johnson is a great entertainer and pretty good receiver, but I’d be more than tired of him if I was on his team and had any desire to win a Super Bowl.
